Anmeldefrist (filing deadline, § 174 InsO)

Deadline for creditors to file claims with the administrator. Typically 4–6 weeks from publication of the opening decision.

Under § 174 InsO creditors must file their claims within the court-set deadline with the administrator — in writing, stating reason and amount, with evidence.

The purpose: the administrator needs a complete overview of creditor structure before monetising and distributing the estate. Late filings are possible (§ 177 InsO) but expensive and disadvantageous to the late filer.

For buyers, the deadline is an important time marker: after it, the administrator has clarity over creditors and can make monetisation decisions. Serious deal negotiations often start after this deadline.
