Methodology
Data provenance & methodology
This page transparently documents which data sources we aggregate, how often we refresh, how we enrich the data, and where our coverage stops. For citations, journalism and academic use.
Data sources
- §9 InsO — insolvency announcementsRefresh: hourly (public JSF endpoint)
Primary source for proceeding openings, safeguarding orders, claim-registration deadlines, reporting and examination hearings.
https://www.insolvenzbekanntmachungen.de ↗ - Handelsregister (unifiedregister.de)Refresh: on-demand per case + weekly backfill
Current commercial-register extract, company master data, signing authority, business purpose, share capital.
https://www.handelsregister.de ↗ - Bundesanzeiger (bundesanzeiger.de)Refresh: monthly refresh for active cases
Annual financials, revenue/EBITDA history, balance sheets. Covers only publication-required legal forms.
https://www.bundesanzeiger.de ↗ - DUB.de, Mabya, dinsob, nexxt-changeRefresh: daily
Owner-led sale signals — curated for-sale listings outside insolvency.
https://www.dub.de ↗ - Public web signalsRefresh: on-demand per case
Wayback Machine, Trustpilot, WHOIS, Google News RSS. Used for distress detection (byteDecayPct, activityDropPct) and reputation indicators.
- AI enrichment (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI)Refresh: on-demand per case
Deep summary, inferred sector, inferred revenue band, Deal Playbook generation. Clearly labelled as AI-generated.
What we do NOT promise
- ·Completeness at the small end: very small proceedings without a §9 publication (consumer insolvencies, natural persons with no business tie) are typically not captured.
- ·Real-time freshness: our hourly sync trails the official publication by 15–60 minutes at median.
- ·Causality of distress signals: Wayback decay or Trustpilot ratings are correlations, not proof of payment difficulty.
- ·AT/CH coverage: Austria (Ediktsdatei + Firmenbuch) is targeted for Q1 2027; Switzerland (SchKG) is a separate product.
- ·AI-generated content: deep summaries and Deal Playbooks are LLM outputs. Use as supplement, not as legal advice.
